What’s your hidden talent?

Definitely not singing as my sister Yasmeen says

I like fashion, love shopping, enjoy photography and practice writing but I don’t really think they are talents.  I can’t really pin-point a normal “human being” talent!!!!!

But I have the ability to remember a lot about a person just by having a 10 minute conversation with them. I do not know if this counts as a talent?!

Everybody from my family, friends and even my husband makes fun of me how I know “everyone and their brother”. I do not do this for gossip, I actually despise gossip, but I like to know about people’s history and background just for the sake of knowing.

I know its weird but I swear I am not a stalker :S

I just have the ability to remember how many kids you have, who you are married to, get to know your aunts, uncles, cousins, family friends, their kids and those kids and their grand kids all BY NAMES in a short period of time.

So just as an example, I went with my sisters to a boutique shop the other day and I met this woman for the first time. I swear I only spoke to her for about 10 minutes. She owns the shop with her other two sisters, who are very nice by the way. She is married to a man named Khalid, she has three kids. She was raised here in Chicago, but knows very good Arabic because her dad was very adamant about teaching his kids Arabic and preserve their culture, religion and heritage. So along the way he started a small school for teaching Arabic for free, rented a space and bus to collect all the kids in the neighborhood, then tried to make a business out of it . She only went back overseas after 18 years of living here, then went back again after getting married. I know a little about her in-laws overseas, and how it was when she first met them. She is trying to launch her business but is having some obstacles along the way, which I will not disclose for identity purposes.

I am always very happy to hear about people’s background when they VOLUNTEER the information. It just always adds to my comprehensive knowledge about people, culture and society. I also strongly believe that every person has a purpose passing through my journey in life. People’s experiences from all walks of life enhance my awareness, as insignificant as it might seem at the time, I am sure will serve me well in my future like many did before.

Knowing more about you and everyone close to you helps me understand the dynamics surrounding you. Especially with people close to me, it helps me understand their mentality and behavior. It also makes it easier to talk to someone and possibly relate to them when knowing so much about them.

But then again, I need to want to know about what they want to tell me, complicating sentence?

Bottom line, I need to like you to WANT TO KNOW ABOUT YOU!!!!!!

Otherwise GO AWAY!!!!!!!
